Arunendro has been enjoying his time with us in the mornings. Because of Raja’s shortened trips to work, we have been able to do family breakfasts. Arunendro has also been increasingly insisting on feeding himself. Mostly successfully, except when the food, (particularly nutella) demands messy eating
Arunendro had a very busy last few days. We all went to see our old friends (Raja’s ex-colleagues from years ago) in Schenectady, NY. They all have kids (older than Arunendro, but not fully grown up). He had a great time there. He played alone and also had a good time with the older kids. What was wonderful is that he didn’t necessarily need constant attention, He was happy to play with the new toys (that the host child was happy to share). But at the same time he really enjoyed having the older girls play and sing with him. He loved playing with the dog of one of the friends. It was the first time he really had to opportunity to play with and feed a dog.
Another eventful day was spent in Connecticut with his father’s family, aunts and cousins. It was his grandmother’s (Suvendra's aunt) 80th birthday and he got to meet several new cousins. He was very comfortable with them and clearly was enjoying his time there. In fact we had to tear him away from this very nice (and large) basement play area his cousins had.
He has been very good at playing by himself. But there have been a few moments when he seems bent on creating trouble. Also he has become a lot clingier towards Raja lately. We suspect it might be that he is beginning to sense some change that is impending. He can now say the entire Alphabet song, the Baa, Baa black sheep song and several other songs that he hears on a tape in Raja’s black car. Whenever we go out he clearly says he would prefer to go in the black car. Although I can tempt him into my red car, if I let him "drive" it. He sits in my lap with his hands on the steering wheel. He’s figured out the horn, turning signal and the radio. |
